Shop painter Shari Lyon's ethereal encaustics

What's an encaustic? Encaustic painting, also known as hot wax painting, is a form of painting that involves a heated wax medium to which colored pigments have been added.

Shari Lyon

Shari Lyon is an encaustic artist who paints with a specific mixture of beeswax and damar resin. Shari also incorporates the use of oil paints, pan pastels, oil sticks, photography, and drawings. What Shari loves most about encaustic is that the outcome is a dreamy, ethereal image with texture and appeal unlike any other art form.

Shari is often drawn to the imagery and symbolism of trees, but she often plays with other themes that are important to her as well, such as beautiful loose landscapes, LDS Temples, and women’s themes are common imagery she works with.
